Annual Chicken BBQ Raises Funds for Community & International Humanitarian Projects.

With over 2,052 meals sold, the 2017 three-day event at the Mecosta County fair was another successful fund raiser.  The Rotary Club of Big Rapids netted almost $9,639 to support community and international humanitarian projects.  Profit made on the drink sales ($1,143) will be donated to Rotary International's Polio Plus program, which is a multi-year international effort to eradicate polio.  Rotarians and friends of Rotary worked over 504 volunteer hours for the three-day event.  This is our largest fund-raising event, and funds raised support our local community projects and also support world-wide efforts in Rotary's six focus areas: peace and conflict prevention/resolution; disease prevention and treatment; water and sanitation projects; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; economic and community development.
